Browning/FN High Power

Adjustment procedure

Adjustment of the sight is quite simple. For windage, the set screw on the left side of the base is loosened with the included .050” hex key, and as previously mentioned, simply repositioned with a punch (punch should have blunt flat face and contact only the dovetail area). For elevation, use the same .050” hex key (or anything small and pointed – toothpicks work well) to depress the detent plunger on the right side of the base and twist the sight blade counterclockwise to raise the point of impact, clockwise to lower. Release detent to lock blade at the proper position.

Please do not use a sight pusher, and always wear eye protection.
This sight will fit the fixed sight dovetail cut on post 80’s guns, with some fitting required. The Browning guns are usually marked “Assembled in Portugal” and have a dovetailed front sight. The cut is approximately .130” deep x 60⁰ x .375” wide (see sight dovetail pix to verify correct application). The factory fixed rear sight is to be driven from the dovetail (usually left to right) with the proper punch. Don’t forget to use eye protection. The MMC sight is then fit to the slide by flat filing the ribs on the bottom of the dovetail until a tight interference fit is achieved. The left side set screw provides additional security.

Sight notch is .125” wide x .090” deep

Browning/FN High Power

The MMC sight for the Browning HP fits guns with the larger (post 80’s) factory original fixed sight dovetail, and is installed with no modification to the slide. These guns have dovetailed front sights and have rear sight dovetails a good bit larger (wider and deeper) than the earlier Belgium guns. Sight installs easily; you will find it takes mild flat file work to set. But if you have any trepidation about installation, please consult your local gunsmith.

  • MMC sight is .030” (at mid elevation) higher than the factory fixed sight. Unless your gun currently shoots low, you may need a higher front.
  • Sight notch is .125” wide x .090” deep.
  • Blade height at median elevation position is .305”
